Ventilation System

Microtunneling and Underground

Networks

SUB’ROCA has designed a compact range of high-performance fans, available in diameters from 250 mm to 800 mm, to ventilate microtunneling operations and underground utility networks such as electrical networks, water systems, and sewer systems.

Configurations

Different Configurations, Different Requirements

We are able to design fans ranging from single-stage (1 stage) to multi-stage (up to 4 stages) configurations, adapted to the constraints and phasing of your project, based on the following characteristics:

Housing made of S235JR steel with a galvanized or epoxy paint finish.

Depending on the application, the motors supplied are available with a power supply voltage of 230/400V or 400/690V (230V single-phase / 1000V or other voltages available on request).

Our fans are supplied as standard with support feet, but can optionally be mounted on fixed or mobile frames, such as wheels, sled/skid systems, etc., for greater ease of movement.

The impellers are fitted with blades made from different materials depending on the application: polypropylene, glass-fiber-reinforced polypropylene, aluminium, or antistatic plastic.
Thanks to our high-quality materials and advanced design software, we can provide the impeller best suited to your specific requirements. Staying at the forefront of impeller technology is part of our commitment.

Ventilation Ducts and Systems

Spiral Ducts

Flexible spiral ducts, commonly known as “Spiraducts”, are ducts designed to circulate a fluid, in this case air, which may contain pollutants, dust, or gases. They can be used for both air supply and extraction (under positive or negative pressure) and can be connected using various systems (belts, straps, zippers, etc.).
They are manufactured as standard from 550 g/m² PVC, but can be produced with PVC ranging from 300 to 1,000 g/m² upon request. They are supplied in sections of 5, 10, 15, or 20 metres.

Smooth Flexible Ducts

Smooth flexible ducts, commonly known as “Ventubes”, are ducts designed to circulate a fluid, in this case air, which may contain pollutants, dust, or gases. They are used for air supply and can be connected using various systems (belts, straps, zippers, etc.).
They are manufactured as standard from 550 g/m² PVC, but can be produced with PVC ranging from 300 to 1,000 g/m² upon request. They are supplied in sections of 5, 10, 15, or 20 metres.
They can also be manufactured in lengths of several tens or even hundreds of metres when using a duct cassette, particularly for tunnelling operations involving tunnel boring machines (TBMs).

Industries We Serve

Areas of Expertise

Sub’Roca works on all underground projects requiring expertise in safety and mining engineering. Our areas of expertise include underground mines and quarries (miner protection, network ventilation), public works and underground infrastructure (metro stations, shafts, railway tunnels), civil engineering tunnels (Grand Paris Express, railway connections, major international projects), and microtunneling and underground networks (electrical, water, and wastewater networks).

Jet Fans for Breakthrough Excavation

Due to the geometry of tunnels and interconnected underground networks, it can be difficult, or even impossible, to direct airflow to specific areas. Jet fans, also known as airflow accelerators, can be used to help direct and enhance airflow.
Sub’roca has leveraged its expertise gained from Charbonnages de France to design jet fans mounted on fixed or mobile frames, which can be easily relocated to adapt the airflow path to the requirements of the project.
